Yovel it is said in Hebrew, Shabbat of the land (or also known as the 50th year of the land). It is the origin of the Latin term “Jubilee” also meaning 50th.
What is special about the number 50?
Fifty is the smallest number that is the sum of two non-zero square numbers in two distinct ways: 50 = 1² + 7² = 5² + 5². It is also the sum of three squares. 50 = 3² + 4² + 5², and the sum of four squares, 50 = 6² + 3² + 2² + 1². It is a Harshad number. The number 50 also symbolizes deliverance or freedom from a burden and restoration of things. It also is a number of the Holy Spirit.
The year of Jubilee was commanded to happen every 50th year (seven weeks of seven years, which add up to 49years)….. It s be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan (Leviticus 25:10). The word Jubilee in Hebrew is the same word for ram’s horn.
Dad was posted to Saint Michael’s College to teach Maths and Physics. Dad joined his colleague to observe students on teaching practice at Emede in the school where Mum was teaching. Dad chose to go and observe how well his student teachers were doing. It was during that inspection tour that he beheld this beautiful lady teacher that cought his attention and his heart . Dad never wasted time making advances which were fruitful. They fell in love with each other and finally got married on the 31st day of December 1971.
From Emevor, mum got transferred to Emede town and as a dedicated teacher, she was all about the welfare of her learners educations. She had noticed that Dad tagged along with his colleagues on their inspection tour to which he kept asking her questions (all she knew was that she wanted them gone). Dad however persistently visited the school and at some point requested her home address, which she never wanted to release. However she finally entertained dad and his friend at her resident. Dad finally caught Mum’s attention as dad kept his calm, cool and calculated self and the rest is history.
to the Godly family!
Growing up, dad and mum made the children understand that God comes first in everything we did as individuals and as a family. The love and reverential fear of God was shown through family praying alter (which we called morning devotion) and night vigils. Dad may have been busy with Shell work while mum held the front at home but dad always took charge whenever he was back. Thus reminding us…life is best with God in charge
Before the marraige
Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering. Chris realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Gina, they wanted the rest of their lives together starting soon, and it did.
Courtship / Wedding photos
To have and to hold, stories that would be told, the two were made one, and together the won.
Chris couldn’t take his eyes off Gina and the long story began; visits, holding hands, laughter, food and just before you asked, he walked her down the isle, it was a lovely day, joy bells ringing.
The journey of a lifetime just began.
Family / recent times
Love is and will continue to be a strong core value for the Chunu’s home or abroad. Raised up children taught and shown how to love, we still continue in this till date and beyond. We have loved and entertained strangers to our home, assisted wherever possible within our means and till date we still do.
Why not? The deliverance, the freedom, the restoration. And we stand United as a family under God to blow the ram’s horn establishing the decree.
Come with us as we celebrate this Golden Jubilee
